Talking to Dandelions (ode)
I say
beautiful dandelion
great survivor,
you that crack the
asphalt straps
spread across the earth,
you that flourish
through concrete,
grow yellow flowers in abandon land plots
to perfume the sunrise
for campesinos catching the early ride,
you that adorn little girls' black hair
on their way to school,
teach me about resistance.
we grow n grow
n continue to grow
n the day will come
when we
from the bottom
will crack through
linoleum and red carpet floors,
to replace the plastic orchids on your desk
replace the fake poppies on your imac screens
n reclaim the space the land
and we will wave on revolutionary flags
as fighters march barefooted
through your corporate floors
follow us
a path of dandelions.
we,
los de abajo,
from the bottom up
will make buildings crumble.
beautiful dandelion
they call you a weed,
a weed!
how much you and I
have in common.
