i been absent for a while, or rather, immerse in school and family.
i can't sleep right now, although I'm tired.

i attended two lectures given by Enrique D. Dussel and the guy just about blew my mind. and because he just open, or rather pointed to so many doors/paths that I can follow in my own studies, that i don't know where to run to. i mean, there's so much stuff that interestes me and so much i don't know, that i just can't decide. Enrique D. Dussel is a philospher from Latin America who is now teaching in UNAM. He's Argentino, but is now in exile. He had to flee cuz the Argeninian government put a bomb in his house and seem to be determined to kill him.

Dussel's seminar focused on Philosophy of Liberation. FilosofÌa de liberacion. he was able to deconstruct Eurocentrism and expose the myth/lie that Europe is the center of history. Much of European sciences and thought comes from China and the Mediterrean, Christianity has a lot of Egyptian influences. He also talked about Liberation Teology and about Bartolome de Las Casas. He talked about Marx, Hegel and Freud in a whole new way. The sad part is that I just attended two out of four lectures. but the good thing is that tapes will be available.

no i want to understand Marx. I was first skeptical about this European, but he seems to be a continual point of reference for a lot of cool people, and whether we like it or not, he has influenced a lot of revolutionary movements. I want to tie/combine Latin American liberation philosophy with U.S. third world feminism, Xicanism@ and indigenismo. this is all huge, i will need a life time to really know all of this, but i want to look for something.

well, sorry to bother you all with all my academic stuff, is just that school has been occupying a big part of my mind!

on another note.

i received an email from Stephanie, a nice surprise. she and Trevor are still together in New York/Bronx. I really wish those two a happy life. Steph is in her path to becoming an MD. i hope she comes back to the bay area after she's done.

the florycanto group is going really well. Oct. 30th will be our first reading . I hope that enough people show up, i think there will. i made some new friends through this group. i need to keep writing.

i'll try to post at least once a week, promise.
