![]() thanks for the pict O.P.!!! OZ. i'm going to see the wizard! 05.05.03cinco de mayo. "time to get your maracas, sombreros, guitarras, tequila, bikinis, and tequila (yes, i said it twice, but it's the shit.) time to sell sell sell!" fuck. this is the type of stuff that people get cinco de mayo to be, a time to party and sell. many people, (including mexicans and xicanos, sadly) don't even know what may 5th is all about, and their ignorance is not big deal, since it has become a commercial holiday. originally, 5 de mayo was an anti-imperialist anti-colonial celebration, when a poor equipped peasant/indigena people's army defeated the french in puebla. although it was just one battle and the mexicans eventually lost the war, it did showed to the working class that they too had power. for xican@s, it became a symbol of successful resistance. i don't know if this day is too commercialized already to reclaim it. maybe. but i refuse to celebrate with pinche folklorico and mariachi. dude, do gueros even realize that we don't listen to mariachi all the time, it's mostly for parties. well, it's going to be a long day and i should be working.
