![]() José7/1/2002I've been meaning to write about this picture. It's very spacial to me, and even more to my friend Jose Lopez, the guy on the right (no, he is not Tacho or Marcos). That's right, my friend took a picture with the real life Zapatista Comandante Tacho and Subcomandante Marcos, from the EZLN. It's like taking a picture with Che Guevara! Well, I know that in every revolutionary movement is the people who are not behind the cameras that make the whole thing possible. Marcos has said it himself. He is just a character; a character that would disappear if the Mayan people of Chiapas get the dignity and life they deserve. And Tacho, well, he doesn't get as much publicity as Marcos, but I'm sure that without him Marcos would drown out there. He went with the Caravana Zapatista as part of his trip across Latino America. Now he is in Europe with our friend Maggie. Today I took my sister Denise to Statistics class; she came to visit for a week. We are trying to influence her a little about being more responsible and interested in school and all. Alejandra and I are also teaching her how to eat healthy, since she's having trouble with her cholesterol levels. Quetzalli received four shots today, two on each leg. She acted real brave, not crying until the third one, and not much. We gave her some tylenoland chamomile tea. La manzanilla is one of the herbs that we still use to keep our people healthy, I'm not even sure if its native to the Americas. I hope my baby doesn't get sick. ...got to go. duty calls. |
